Swinford Comhaltas will host Ceol an Gheimhridh on the 11th of January 2025
Venue: Swinford National School (Scoil Muire agus Treasa) - Postcode: F12 V050
All competitors including dancers must register for competitions in the Office at Scoil Muire agus Treasa.
Admission: €5
Forms can be filled out in advance but must be brought to the office to be signed on the day. Video permits will be available from the office on the day.

Michael Davitt CCE Swinford is once again hosting the Mayo finals of Ceol an Gheimhridh (The Winter Fleadh) in Swinford National School on Saturday 11th of Janaury. The competitions (confined to under 11s and under 14s) have been entered by over 150 children from all over Mayo and we hope that people will come out to support all the wonderful young musicians, singers, dancers and those telling stories or reciting poems. Everyone is welcome to attend the competitions. €5 admission fee covers all competitions/venues for the day. Competitions begin at 10am.

Junior members of Comhaltas currently aged Under 14 are invited to consider entering this year's Ceol an Gheimhridh competitions which takes place in the Swinford, Mayo on the 11th of January 2025. The age groups are Under 11 and 11-14 as of Jan 1st 2024. Note you must be
a fully paid up member of Comhaltas for the 2024/2025 branch year to enter. No entry fee - you only pay admission charge at the door on the day. To enter the competitions contact your local branch secretary for entry form details.
Competitions are:
• Reed (Button Accordion, Piano Accordion, Concertina, Pipes)
• Wind (Whistle and Flute)
• Strings (Fiddle, Banjo, Mandolin, Harp)
• Duets (2 melodic instruments)
• Quartettes (4 melodic instruments)
• English Singing
• Irish Singing
• Recitation of a Poem
• Storytelling
• Céilí Dancing (4 Hand/6 Hand/8 Hand)
• Set Dancing (Mixed/Girls)
• Sean-nós Dancing
• Céilí Band (2 musicians U17 allowed)
CHANGE IN ELIGIBILITY FOR CEOL AN GHEIMHRIDH 2024/25
Please note: solo qualifiers to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2024 from the Connacht Fleadh 2024 are ineligible to compete in this years Ceol an Gheimhridh on the category in which they competed in Fleadh na hÉireann. (e.g a competitor who qualified from the Connacht Fleadh on
fiddle is ineligible to enter the strings competition in Ceol an Gheimhridh 2024/25 etc). This applies to competitors in Strings, Wind, Reed, Singing, Amhránaíócht, Storytelling, Sean-nós,Duets and Scéalaíocht only.
CONNACHT CEOL AN GHEIMHRIDH 2024/25
It is proposed to host a Provincial Ceol an Gheimhridh in February/March 2025 – dates to be confirmed.
Please note: 1st and 2nd will qualify for Connacht from their respective county with 3rd also eligible to qualify if the adjudicator has deemed they have met a sufficient standard.
