Branch History
Craobh Chlann Lir is the Erris branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Comprising of traditional musicians and dancers, it was re-established in 2008 to promote traditional music and dance in the Erris area. The branch holds weekly lessons for children and adults in a number of traditional disciplines including fiddle, accordion, whistle, as well as regular music sessions in different locations across the wider North Mayo area.
The branch has also taken part in the Comhaltas Summer Sessions over the last couple of years. Running every Thursday night during the summer months, these sessions are held in the wonderful new Arts Centre building in Belmullet, and attract locals and visitors alike. Our members regularly participate at Fleadh events, and we are very proud of our Youth Officer, Liam McGonigle, who was runner up in the melodeon at the all-Ireland Fleadh in 2010.
Friend us on Facebook to keep up-to-date with all our events or, to get in touch, see our page on the Comhaltas website: http://comhaltas.ie/locations/detail/craobh_chlann_lir/
